As an Acoustic Engineer at nura you will work as part of a small highly motivated team. You will improve the efficacy of nura’s personalisation of audio and work to optimise our headphone/earphone acoustics and otoacoustic emission probes.

 

The Acoustic Engineer is a permanent full-time role based at nura HQ, Melbourne, reporting to the CTO. Striving to maintain the utmost product quality for our customers is in our DNA and this position will require the ability to work as part of our high performing product and engineering team to bring our aim to life.  Experience with personalised sound measurement or processing is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Optimise otoacoustic emission probes
  • Optimise headphone and earphone acoustics
  • Improve the efficacy of nura’s personalisation of audio
  • Manage the assessment and collection of hearing data
  • Work closely with Engineers and Scientists within nura’s product team
  • Act as a technical leader who understands the entire audio subsystem of consumer audio products and contribute innovative solutions to problems in this area
  • Build and contribute expertise to design and function of nura products
  • Design and conduct subjective tests to verify the performance of audio systems
  • Evaluate prototypes to demonstrate acoustic design

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Acoustics or Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Masters
  • Experience with Head-related transfer function (HRTF) measurement/processing
  • Experience with Active noise cancellation (ANC) (preferably in the context of headphones/earphones)
  • Experience with Matlab/Python
  • The ability to work independently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

 

Preferred:

  • Experience/knowledge of audiology and the human hearing system
  • Experience with personalised sound measurement or processing
  • Able to perform basic psychoacoustic testing
