Position Overview
Charter has an opportunity for a Design Manager to join its Civil Engineering team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Director – Civil Engineering, this position will manage the civil design process for a wide range of land development (greenfield and urban renewal) projects from concept through to completed projects.
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor the Civil Engineering Design team
- Review all design production to ensure consistent, quality outputs
- Refine Charter’s design and quality assurance standards and implement process improvements
- Provide support to construction management activities
- Undertake business development activities
- Contribute to strategy, policy and process to strengthen financial performance
Position Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
- Proficient in 12D computer design
- 10 years+ industry experience in design processes for earthworks, roadways, stormwater, sewer, water and utility services
- Knowledge of land development subdivisional processes
- Current driver’s licence
- Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) Design Assurance Scheme (DAS) accreditation and active ARCUS accreditation for water and sewer design preferred
- Previous experience with stormwater modelling software would be advantageous
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Consultative approach
