Downer's Mineral Technologies is the final contractor in the tender-award process for several major national and international projects and as such, we are now seeking to appoint a Lead Project Engineer based in our Adelaide office.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Oversee and manage a multi-discipline engineering design team towards successful delivery of the client’s scope of works within agreed budgets and timeframes;
• Provide strong leadership to team members by conveying clear direction, technical guidance and professional support as and when required;
• Liaise with and build strong, positive relationships with the client acting as the primary point of contact for all communications;
• Co-ordinate and lead engineering resources, including estimating project resource needs;
• Develop and manage budgets and maintain an accurate forecasting of costs;
• Develop and track the project’s progress to schedule;
• Ensure regular and routine updates are delivered both client-side and to internal Downer stakeholders;
• Supervise the contract management process – vendor/supplier agreements, all negotiations and variances as required.

ABOUT YOU

• Significant experience in a project management role, specifically around the design and construct of mineral processing plants and/or equipment; 
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (engineering discipline preferred);
• Strong technical aptitude;
• Solid leadership capabilities and proven experience driving a high performing team to successful delivery;
• Experience in a client-interface role coupled with the ability to effectively negotiate, influence and persuade to reach a mutually acceptable outcome;
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
• A non-negotiable attitude towards safety best practice within the design process as well as a solid understanding of industry safety standards, systems and legislation;
• And finally, a genuine commitment to creating a positive work environment and the enthusiasm to inspire and motivate your team.
