Role:

The project engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and support during select, define, and execute. To develop the technical designs according to the established STPs and when necessary seek to improve upon the STPs. The project engineer should utilize the existing value improving practices and proactively drive the project to design freeze at the appropriate time.

Duties:

• Provide engineering design specifications
• Project lead defines the technical options and the value proposition of each
• Update appraise deliverables as required
• Provide project scope input the project manager for the PEP
• Create the project process and fabrication components of the quality plan
• Identify long lead items and develop experience modification rates
• Review and endorse the integrated master control schedule
• Review and endorse the integrated activity plan
• By the project manager to get input on the requirements for the contractor performance management system
• Provide challenge to any changes once design freeze has been executed and force all changes to be captured through the MoC process
• Monitor procurement activities to ensure on-time delivery of materials to meet the construction schedule; - Make engineering work packages and materials are available in a timely manner to support fabrication and construction schedule Review the PMAC report per the agreed quantitative progress measurement plan and take necessary intervention as required
• Provide input into the contractor performance management process
• Participate in regular risk management reviews to identify and / or modifying additional or existing risks
• Ensure appropriate planning, systems and tools are implemented during engineering and construction to facilitate commissioning

Essential:

• Person to have between 3-5 years’ experience with a tertiary engineering qualification in either Structural, Civil, Mechanical or Chemical.
• Detailed design, managing designs and design assurance experience
• Talent for grasping all other disciplines. Not after a specialist engineer, however experience in their chosen discipline is desired.
• No Oil and Gas expereince required!
• Demonstrated performance in safety management, e.g. performing design risk assessments or commissioning start-ups (pre start up safety reviews).
• Can balance commercial drivers with engineering risk, and is passionate about continuous improvement and value engineering. An efficient problem solver and risk manager that utilises a fresh outlook when required.
• Senior stakeholder managment skills a must
• Very strong commercial acumen, and sound interpersonal and networking skills. The person must have an ability to develop very effective professional relationships with a number of internal and external stakeholders (consultants, contractors, marketing, retail, logistics, network specialists, procurement specialists).

Desirable:

• Experience in preparing and / or managing detailed engineering design packages and consistently applying engineering standards.
• Construction QA/QC inspections (e.g. carrying out Engineering inspections for construction ITP hold points)
• Commercial construction or fuel systems background is desirable but not essential. Candidates from diverse industry backgrounds will also be considered (e.g. manufacturing or process industry experience).
• Knowledge of Australian Standards AS1940, AS1596, AS 4897
• RPEQ or CPEng is desirable but not essential as it is a project engineer role
