Due to the growth of our business and an expanded portfolio of projects, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Wind Engineering Design Consultant to join our team.

As part of the Advanced Technology & Research team, this role covers a broad range of skills relating to wind and CFD analyses. The primary focus of this role is to contribute to developing the wind engineering services of our business, supporting our clients and building a profitable architectural engineering team.  

The Wind Engineering Design Consultant will undertake design, project management and consulting services within the consulting field, in order to enhance the team’s portfolio of skills and expertise. In this team, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop within a highly specialised team of technical specialists. In addition, the successful candidate will: 

  • Assist with a broad range of wind engineering consulting services, including, but not limited to wind climate analyses, pedestrian comfort and microclimate, wind loading and dynamic response of structures, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and organising wind-tunnel testing,
  • Assist with all aspects of wind engineering consultancy: preparing proposals, project administration and management, analysis, reporting, business development, and involvement in client relationships,
  • Assist in preparation and running of CFD simulations,
  • Preparation of internal and external reports, presentations and technical documents relating to the above activities

You will have demonstrated:

  • Tertiary degree with fluid mechanics component,
  • At least 2 years engineering consulting experience, preferably related to wind engineering,
  • experience in CFD simulation and excellent general computer skills; any demonstrated skills will be looked on favourably,
  • Eligibility for Chartership with the Institute of Engineers (Australia) – IE Aust, or chartership with equivalent associations in other countries or professional accreditation/registration equivalent in qualified professional area.

With recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in design, project management and implementation in your field, within a consulting business environment.  

You will possess demonstrated excellent attention to detail along with high-level verbal and written communication skills.  Additionally, you will have proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. 

Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership will be highly regarded.
