About the role
The role will include but not be limited to:
- Building Code of Australia assessments, based on drawing review and site inspections;
- Preparation of fee proposals;
- Preparation of fire engineering performance-based design solutions, for new and existing buildings, utilising:
- Qualitative and quantitative egress assessments;
- Qualitative and quantitative fire and smoke spread assessments;
- Radiant heat calculations; and
- Smoke modelling;
- Performing computer modelling of fire and smoke using Fire Dynamics Simulator (NIST);
- Performing computer modelling of occupant emergency evacuation using spreadsheet calculations, Simulex, Evacnet, Pathfinder, and similar evacuation models;
- Assessing structural systems exposed to fire through computational methods outlined in standards, research papers and proprietary software programs;
- Attend site inspections and meetings with clients, project managers, design teams and approval authorities;
- Provide and attend in-house and external technical sessions and seminars;
- Coordinating with clients, consultants and enforcing agencies in relation to fire safety aspects of projects;
- Maintaining organized project information and clear understanding of project tasks/schedule; and
- Business development activities with prospective clients.
