Your new company
This Government Department, based in Newcastle develops strategy, programs and policy for the management of the Crown land estate and Water. Their key business areas deliver social and economic outcomes for the state. Due to increased needs as a result of a transition to new legislation in the Crown Land Management Act 2016, they are after a GIS Technician to join their GIS Data Management Team.
Your new role
As a part of the transition, investigation is required to verify records which detail the management of Crown Reserves. On the project team overseeing this transition, your key responsibilities will be to;
- Analyse and research data in Land data systems and compare to other records in various systems
- Perform searches and correlate data using mapping tools and Historical Archiving tools
- Collect, record and evaluate spatial information and historical land records
- Update organisational data bases
- Conduct analysis of maps, charts, plans and other historical documents is required to contribute to data verification and correction

- Relevant University qualifications
- Spatial and Mapping skills
- GIS and data management and software proficiency (Java, ESRI, ArcGIS)
- You will be a creative thinker and enjoy a challenge
- You will thrive in a team environment
- You will be available immediately
- You must have the right to work in Australia
