We are seeking a highly motivated Civil Tailings Engineer with recent mine site experience to join our Mine Waste/Design group. This is a full-time position based in our Perth office.
 
You will be involved in a variety of technically challenging projects and have access to leading industry experts to mentor and guide you. This role will suit an individual with recent fieldwork or construction supervision experience with a particular interest in transitioning into a design role with exposure to the civil design aspects of mine waste (tailings) management, landfill, and other related civil engineering fields. Previous experience in earthworks construction and liner deployment will be highly regarded.
 
Your responsibilities will include:

• Travelling to site to oversee construction of tailings storage facility designs developed by our Mine Waste team;
• Interpreting results from laboratory testing and preparing summary reports;
• Developing a basis for defensible soil strength parameters, using laboratory and field results;
• Undertaking screening level and detailed design analyses to support the design of tailings storage facilities and other earth structures, initially under close guidance from our senior specialists, but with a view to carrying out such work independently;
• Managing the specification and implementing design changes while on site;
• Undertaking geotechnical site investigations and reporting;
• Developing designs for tailings storage facilities and other earth structures;
• Undertaking design assessments, including stability and seepage analyses;
• Preparation of technical deliverables such as proposals and reports; and
• Working with and providing support to other members of the group as required.

To be successful, you will have a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent. It is expected that you will have strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for fieldwork. Previous consulting experience will be favourable.
