We have an exciting position for a Structural Engineer for Electrical Structures , to be based in Sydney. As part of our Power Engineering team you would focus on designing structures for the power and rail industry. We are however a large and diverse company so you should expect a varied portfolio of work, which could also include projects for road infrastructure, tunnels, industrial facilities, mining, and the water industry.
 
You will provide a critical support function as one of a small number of structural engineers supporting the Australian Power team which mostly comprises electrical and renewable energy engineers working in the fields of power networks, wind, solar, traction power, substations, transmission lines, and instrumentation and controls.
 
This is not routine engineering. Our group takes on the challenging projects where the infrastructure is operationally critical to our clients and our community, and where every design and situation requires a unique and well though-out solution. For the right individual this will quickly develop into a client facing and project leadership role.
 
The successful applicant will have a mixture of some or all the following:

• A Civil/Structural Engineering (or similar) degree is essential
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a structural engineering role in one or more of the markets that we serve
• Previous experience within power infrastructure, energy and/or the rail industry, Familiarity with the electrical structures used in the NSW rail industry, and working knowledge of ASA standards
• Knowledge of structures loadings development, structural analysis and design and foundation design of power related structures such as Transmission/Distribution towers/poles and substation support structures
• Knowledge of Microstran and/or SpaceGass is essential, and preferably a familiarity with PLS Pole, Tower
• Experience with AutoCAD is an advantage
• A demonstrated understanding of safety in design principles, and the practicalities of how safety is applied on site.
• Excellent communication skills with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, contractors and site staff.
• The right to work in Australia, or a pathway to obtain a suitable visa
