The Senior Network Safety Strategy Engineer in the Strategic Asset Performance Area is accountable for development and deployment of best practice network safety asset management strategies for the effective management of safety risks associated with in-service assets in the Western Power’s transmission and distribution network.  This includes compliance and risk management; the development, application and auditing of business, operational technology and information/data technology enablers, and asset management systems and processes.

 

Specific responsibilities of this role are:

  • Development and ongoing management of Electricity Network Safety Management System
  • Develop and deploy Network Safety Strategy
  • Facilitate formal safety assessments (as required under Australian Standard AS5577
  • Drive / contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in the safe management of asset(s)
  • Provide technical asset performance advice
  • Assess and manage asset risk, obligations and incentives within a regulatory framework

 

About you:

The successful applicant will be experienced and possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree) in Electrical Engineering;
  • Eligible for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia;
  • 10+ years comprehensive and in depth knowledge and expertise gained through power utility experience in development/ deployment of electricity network safety management systems, and, electricity network safety strategy for management of safety risks due to the electricity network;
  • Good working knowledge of electricity network safety management systems in compliance with AS5577;
  • Specialist knowledge in mitigation of bushfire, electric shock and physical impact risks due to electricity transmission and distribution network;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail; and
  • Demonstrated experience in asset risk management and financial analysis skills.
