Wilson Transformer Company has an excellent opportunity for a talented Mechanical Engineer in Product Design to apply their Engineering skills into the diversified world of transformer manufacturing.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Minimum 5 years CAD experience, in design and detail drawings experience is a must
- Display a can-do attitude, demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, a teamwork ethic and the ability to think and operate autonomously and independently when required
- Extensive
- Proven CAD skill in design and analysis, preferably Solidworks
- A thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques in, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, welding, and protective coating process.
- Designing products in a high voltage environment (preferred)
- Experience in designing products in a corrosive environment.
- Ability to perform load calculation, for lifting and deflection.
- Familiarity with the requirements of AS1100 (Technical Drawing)
- Understand the true design and manufacturing costs, and factor this into the products you design.
- Understand root cause failure analysis and identify process capability metrics
- A history with hands-on engineering support, and show a passion for product design with a focus on manufacturability.
- Highly computer literate
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Excellent numerical skills
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Take ownership for complete turnkey product design, detailing drawing and data file management.
- Interface directly between your mechanical design and manufacturing.
- Support the shop floor on drawing queries and assist in root cause failure of analysis of technical issues
- Follow company engineering and information control standards
Your Experience and Qualifications will include:
- Mechanical Engineering Qualification or equivalent
- Display a can-do attitude, demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, a teamwork ethic and the ability to think and operate autonomously and independently when required
- CAD and design experience essential.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem solver
- Attention to detail, Team Player with excellent communication skills
- Right to work in Australia
