We’re seeking an autonomous and highly motivated professional to manage a small fleet of vessels based at a well-known North Queensland port supporting significant mining operations. As the Technical and Commercial Superintendent, you will provide engineering expertise (mechanical and electrical) as well as guidance for complex technical matters, ensure timely vessel maintenance schedules and maintain critical relations with client, supplier and contractor stakeholders.  Additionally, in this unique position, you will also lead and manage all commercial and contractual requirements pursuant to delivery on a key contract and ensuring world class safety standards are met. This will include forecasting and budgeting of operational expenditure including the Repairs and Maintenance budget. In all, you’ll have responsibility to ensure the operational and commercial performance of a key, high profile contract.

An outstanding leadership development opportunity, you will also contribute to strategic planning initiatives as well as the selection and commissioning of new vessels. You’ll engage regularly with the company’s senior management team and Executives.

With tertiary engineering qualifications or a certificate in Marine engineering (min class 3), we’ll look for you to demonstrate exposure to off-shore vessel or shipyard maintenance, but also the ability to track and manage budgets. Critically you’ll have the proven communication skills to manage complex operations for a key client. I do have to emphasise that we need a person who meets the above qualifications and this is not a fly in fly out position- in fact, the position offers excellent career enhancement opportunity.
