We currently have a new opportunity for an experienced Principal Consultant Power System to join our Energy Management Division in Digital Grid Business Unit - Power Technologies International (PTI) team. Based in our Melbourne, VIC office, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within an area of the Siemens business that has enormous market potential.

Reporting to the Country PTI Manager, the Principal Consultant Power System will be required to visit internal and external customers to develop business opportunities for the Digital Grid business unit across Australia. They will then be required to leverage technical electrical studies, including also new market trends like MicroGrids, Remote Monitoring, Remote Maintenance etc.., identify local market requirements and leverage technical solutions in contact with other Business Units, Business Segments and Headquarters, and create market demand for our solution, including develop and present to customers and possible stakeholders our solution business cases, including financial aspects like ROI, CAPEx vs. OPEX, etc.

Once these opportunities have been identified you will then be required to write solution specifications and develop operation philosophies to enforce Siemens position in selling process, as well as understanding and clarifying customer requirements, whilst then driving those expectations into Siemens technical concepts and expertises. In addition you will need to prepare offers, including cost calculations, and define delivery concepts of our solutions, create respective technical and commercial concepts and offerings, in order to support the sales process, and support BU organization in contract negotiations at all stages, with information and analyses.

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will need and understanding of the following:

• Planning, design, operation and maintenance of electricity networks 
• Large generation and load connection studies including assessment of dynamic behaviour, control system assessments, Protection Coordination studies and tuning of parameters 
• Undertake power system studies relating to Steady state, dynamic, transient, power quality and small signal power system performance on transmission and distribution networks including microgrids 
• Load flow and dynamic simulation experience using PSSE, PSSSINCAL, Digsilent Powerfactory and other simulation tools 
• Experience in developing PSSE, Digsilent Powerfactory scripts 
• Solid competency in report writing with proficient interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills 
• Broad knowledge of transmission system plant and its application, including the planning criteria, specifications and design requirements
• Excellent communication & presentation skills
• Undertake the connection negotiations including GPS studies with AEMO and TNSPs/DNSPs for Solar Farms & Wind Farms in line with Nation Electricity rules (NER).
• Produce high quality reports documenting study findings, results and recommendations. 
• Undertake the Project Manager role for the studies to be delivered to customers
• Review access application data and computer models, including detailed assessment of computer models against the requirements of relevant technical standards
• Produce high quality reports documenting study findings, results and recommendations.
• Have expert knowledge of high-reliability commercial/industrial battery and power systems
• Ability to manage several project concurrently with projects ranging from less than a week out to 12 months in duration

The successful candidate will be an Engineer who has a specialization in electrical power systems (generation, distribution, transmission grids) and/or industrial automation, and can lead offer preparations, including cost calculation and T&Cs negotiation. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to deliver systems or solutions for energy markets, be comfortable working as part of a highly motivated project execution team, and ideally have an in depth knowledge of the Australian energy market place.
