Title:Graduate Mechanical / Process Engineer
Reports to:Project Manager or Mechanical / Process Engineer (as required)
Primary Objective: Undertakes work assigned by the supervising Project Manager or Mechanical / Process Engineering activities for a specific project or assignment.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Have a strong personal Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) culture that aligns with that of the organisation and where necessary the clients.
- Seeks coaching, teaching, mentoring from supervisingProject Manager or Mechanical / Process Engineer as part of individuals personal development.
- Assists in the development of Mechanical / Process Engineering deliverables for review with Project Manager or Electrical & Instrumentation and Control Engineer (as required).
- Assists in the development of technical engineering software capabilities. This includes Computational Fluid Dynamics, Discrete Element Method modelling and piping systems hydraulic and transient analysis.
- Reports to the Project Manager or Mechanical / Process Engineer (as required) the status of Mechanical / Process Engineering activities and deliverables.
- Assists in the development of all required discipline deliverables for the assigned area.
- Assists in the application of first-principles engineering theory to large-scale industrial problems with a focus on cost-benefit, client requirements, and project scope.
- Ensures communication flow, both verbal and written, is maintained within the organisation (Carnac) or project and with other engineering disciplines.
- Assists with the upkeep of storage and listing of all Mechanical / Process specific standards stored on the computer network.
- Upkeeps a high level of personal accountability by self-managing and logging time spent, time budgeting, deliverable progress, and project change tracking.
- Assists in coordinating Mechanical / Process Engineering design activities with other design and engineering groups.
- Assists in defining, monitoring and managing construction / design quantities.
- Identifies deviations in job scope and estimates and reports these to the coordinating Project Manager or Mechanical / Process Engineer.
- Assists in representing Area / Unit Mechanical / Process Engineering in meetings with suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, clients, and other Company disciplines.
- Records and delivers minutes / records of conference / meeting proceedings.
- Assists in the development of Mechanical / Process Engineering design drawings.
- Maintains and promotes quality control for assigned area.
- Assists in the development of the Mechanical / Process Engineering project completion report
Essential Skills/Experience:Must have a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical / Process Engineering. Mineral processing background or experience would be highly regarded. The candidate would need to demonstrate a high level of confidence, independent thinking, and time management.
Desirable Skills/Experience:Experience with OpenFOAM, LAMMPS / LIGGGHTS, Fluent, Rocky DEM, Piping Systems Fluid Flow, working in an Ubuntu/Debian environment, MySQL, Apache2 server configuration, Matlab, or similar would be highly regarded.
The candidate will be expected to work across a number of operating systems on a range of hardware. Basic knowledge of peer-to-peer, standalone, and client-server network interaction would be highly regarded.
