The role

We have an opportunity for an experienced Solutions Consultant in Operations Management & Control System (OMCS) to join our professional team in Melbourne. The Solution Consultant will be responsible for developing solutions to meet our customers' needs and provide bid support throughout the tender.

Your key tasks will involve:

• Understand the customer's business requirements and translate them into solutions that fit the customer's needs from a technical and commercial perspective;
• Develop business and delivery models;
• Ensure technical and commercial adequacy of solutions, building widely on the company's standard solution portfolio;
• Conduct pre-sales activities (e.g. demos and workshops) and provide technical support to sales;
• Drive definition of customer specific solution in collaboration with other global functions (e.g. Solution Management, Engineering, Delivery, Operations);
• Liaise with global Solution Management in USA and Europe;
• Safeguard a comprehensive set of documentation, education and marketing material (internal / external);
• Perform regional market surveys and identify market trends;
• Feed the baseline portfolio with market requirements, pricing policies and regional competitor information;
• Provide bid support, especially during hand-over from pre-sales to bid phase.
• Technical expert support in delivery/on-going projects; and
• Develop strategies to define and shape markets with regard to Kapsch's overall strategy and product/solution portfolio.

About you

You will be an experienced ITS professional with strong conceptual thinking and design capabilities. You'll have a strong customer focus mindset and a high work ethic, coupled with exceptional collaboration, presentation and communication skills. In addition you will be able to travel domestically and internationally as required.

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree (engineering discipline) or higher;
• Several years of experience in presales and technical positions in the ITS industry (ATMS/OMCS knowhow mandated) and expert knowledge of the ITS industry;
• Experience in different DB technologies (e.g., Oracle, Sybase, DB2, MS SQL Server) and DB architecture;
• Experience in working with in SCADA systems;
• Experience in electrical systems such as; CCTV, vehicle sensing, traffic signaling, dynamic messaging, over height detection, etc. required;
• Good knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand ITS market (preferred OMCS/ATMS);
• Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite;
• Strong conceptual thinking and design capabilities;
• Business fluent in English; every further language skill is a highly welcome asset.
