ICPS Australia also works closely with insurance companies, brokers, assessors and lawyers to provide expert input and job management strategies.

The Role

Due to ICPS Australia’s continued growth, our Brisbane office seeks a motivated Structural Engineer who can sit across our Forensic and Structural Engineering divisions. You will utilise your skills and experience in a wide range of areas including forensic investigation, traditional structural engineering design and documentation, project engineering as well as construction phase support.

Under direct supervision your day to day duties will include:

• Site investigations, diagnosis, assessment and producing detailed reports outlining the cause of damages and providing a scope of work for remedial action for all types of damage;
• End-to-end engineering design from initial client brief, preliminary design, final design, coordinating development of structural drawings and providing construction phase support for a variety of residential and commercial projects;
• Assessment and retrofit of existing structures and remediation engineering for compliance with current building codes and standards;
• Assisting in the development of projects.

What you need to succeed

We are looking for a great team player, who is confident in dealing with customers and enjoys having variety in their day. You will have:

• A Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with eligibility for MIE Aust registration;
• 3 - 5 years of postgraduate experience working as a structural engineer in Australia within a design consulting capacity -  local experience is a distinct advantage;
• Exposure in forensic engineering, performing building assessments, failure analysis, report writing, checking structural issues and remediation engineering would be another advantage;
• Working knowledge designing in timber, steel and concrete, including residential footing/slab design, residential timber framing design, steel framed sheds;
• Great computer skills including confidence in using a range of common industry analysis / design packages such as Microstran and AutoCAD;
• Knowledge and experience in the submission of calculations for peer review or as part of the building approval process if required;
• Excellent interpersonal and self-management skills to enable you to liaise with and manage internal and external service providers and stakeholders;
