As we continue to secure new projects we continue to grow our EDS Engineering Team. We are currently looking for Experienced 3D CAD design support that will play an active role on our EDS program working with our main customer Ford Australia.

This is an extremely busy environment supporting the broader EDS team to ensure all regulatory requirements, quality targets, cost targets and delivery milestones are met. This role is predominately working from our company's main office in Thomastown, however will be based at our customers design centre.  

Essential Job functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead the Design & Development of new EDS wire harness assemblies together with program leaders and design engineers to meet customer expectations.
  • Lead customer CAD priority interfaces to SWSA program leaders.
  • Lead the training and CAD issue resolution of all EDS CAD designers regionally.
  • Lead the Creation and on time releasing of Wiring Harness Drawings from EDS Project Engineers. ( W-FLOW/ PPM / WACTS);
  • Lead the introduction of 3D to 2D harness bridging tools;
  • Lead administration of Catia file structure on SWSA/ Ford  servers;
  • Release of wire harness to necessary customer Team centres;
  • Lead CAD support to EDS CAD Team Leader/ Supervisor / EDS senior Engineer / other Senior CAD Designers where required;
  • Lead CAD support to regional programs and support development of CAD skills/ training of key staff.
  • Raise customer satisfaction to the overall CAD support responsibilities of SWSA.
  • Responsible for leading the creation and release of  wire harness assemblies  within the Team Centre control system / plus Buck maintenance;
  • Support  planning of harness  CAD resource for each SWSA  design project;
  • Lead harness Drawing interfaces and Document control for harness CAD needs;
  • Lead  the support of harness assessments, reports when required;( eg DPA)
  • Liaise between SWSA /customers & Sales department if required;
  • Liaise between SWSA /Sumitomo internal companies in other regions for design reviews , feasibility studies, ,if required;
  • Support planning of design change release timing and managing the implementation of design change at those times.
  • Lead Continuous improvement of SWSA harness CAD knowledge and processes.

  • Catia knowledge (V5 essential)
  • A good understanding of data translation processes
  • Understanding of data creation standards and its application
  • Have a good understanding of the EDS wire harness environment.
  • 3D CAD operating Skills
  • 2D Cad Operating skills
  • Ability to read and understand a wire harness 2D drawing.
  • Understanding of GD & T principles
  • Understanding of CAD file security structures
  • Understanding of basic electrical engineering terminology
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to plan and implement timing plans
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively in the team environment
  • Effective presentation skills of new ideas
  • Determination for self-learning and self-sufficiency in the work place.
  • Update customer required documentation for design change release.
  • Ability to handle stressful pressure situations under time constrained customer needs.
  • Previous administrative experience within a technical CAD environment (Catia V5)
  • Experience with providing 3D CAD support to engineers.
  • Working knowledge within an EDS environment
  • Working as an Data Administrator

Experience

  • Qualification in Engineering or system/component design experience  (mandatory)
  • Working knowledge within an EDS environment (Wire Harness) (desirable)
  • Intermediate level of experience using Catia V5
  • Team Center Operating Skills (desirable)
  • Completion of a CAD (Computer Aided Design) Course in Catia is desirable.
