Position overview:

This position is available as a Hydraulics Sales Engineer to join our Sales team in Sydney, New South Wales. Reporting to the National Sales Manager, this role requires significant direct experience either in industrial sales or engineering, is fully competent in Hydraulics products, applications and has been exposed to the diverse selling requirements of significant customers, involving selling the full product line.  This role requires a functional maturity to produce sales growth in accordance with the Company's goals and objectives. Key activities include:

  • Assist the Sales Manager with the development of appropriate strategies to maximize growth and product sales across the existing and new customer base
  • Source new business and aggressively build the order pipeline
  • Assist in the preparation of tenders
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to key customers ensuring all sales opportunities are followed through in an efficient and timely manner
  • Offer technical and product support to internal resources when required
  • Achieve budgets and other KPI's
  • Form strong partnerships with internal departments to maximize sales growth and captialise on all potential business opportunities
  • Position requires intrastate travel of approximately 70%; interstate/international 10%
  • Carry out the roles and responsibilities as detailed in the quality, safety and environment policies and procedures
  • Ensure commitment to the quality, safety and environment and proactively report any risks and issues
  • Understand and comply with the company's mission, vision, policies, objectives and other requirements of the quality, safety and environment management system

 

You will:

  • Be fully competent in the identification and application of fluid power products and applications,
  • Have a strong applications background
  • Have been exposed to the diverse selling requirements to distributors, OEM's and mining operations requiring hydraulic applications and solutions
  • Have a proven track record in the development of innovative sales solutions that achieve win-win solutions
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in the  production of sales growth and new business development
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to partner well with other internal departments and resources
  • Have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

 

Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree preferred (Engineering) however other TAFE or Trade based qualifications may be acceptable when coupled with significant hands on experience
  • 5 to 10 years broad experience affording a knowledge of selling techniques and implementing successful sales strategy maximizing growth and new customer opportunities.
  • Direct experience handling Hydraulic products and solutions.
  • Appropriate financial acumen to enable pricing and margin impact analysis

 

Specialised Knowledge

  • Tertiary Engineering qualifications or equivalent, with five to ten years technical sales activities in related industries and/or two years hydraulic and hose & fitting experience.
  • Broad understanding and knowledge of the Hydraulic industry at OEM, distribution and customer level.
  • Technical understanding & proficient knowledge of Eaton Hydraulic & Fluid Power products.
  • Field selling experience with engineered product solutions, ability to employ pull-marketing strategies.
  • Aptitude with formal & information presentations at OEM, distribution and customer level.
