About you
You have significant experience at a similar level, ideally in asset maintenance for modern metro systems and operations within a depot environment, including strong working experience of inspection, fault finding and repair procedures for Rolling Stock Vehicles.

You hold a tertiary qualification in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering professional experience and/or qualification deemed to be equivalent. A Certificate IV in Training and assessment qualification would be highly regarded.

Additionally, you have demonstrated experience in managing a diverse and high performing team of maintenance technicians and maintenance contractors to deliver business KPI’s, service excellence and continuous improvements in railway operation. You have the ability to support team members and foster a collaborative work environment.

About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a diligent and outcome-driven Maintenance Manager – Fleet (Operational Readiness) to join the MTS Operational Readiness team and assist with the delivery of key operational readiness milestones on a large railway project and in a greenfield working environment.

Reporting to the Depot Manager, you will be accountable for:
  • Developing, reviewing plans, manuals and procedures that will assist the delivery of safe and reliable Depot Operation, including appropriate communication protocols with the Network Control Centre
  • Managing the mobilization of the Maintenance Subcontractor and its subcontractors to ensure readiness for depot maintenance and compliance with the associated Technical Maintenance Plan and depot cleanliness requirements.
  • Participating in Train’s and Depot Equipment Testing and commissioning activities to ensure the delivery of fit for purpose trains and depot operations.
  • Planning and conducting safety drills and emergency rescue and re-railment operations for passenger trains and other rolling stock assets.
  • Supervising an internal team of Line Technicians to deliver Depot Control Centre operational readiness and drive a high performing culture.
The successful applicants will initially be offered a maximum-term contract until February 2020 and will be considered for potential permanent opportunities within MTS.

The role will be based at Metro Trains Sydney's Rouse Hill depot.
