Iluka Resources is a major participant in the global mineral sands sector and is involved in the exploration, project management, operations and marketing of zircon and titanium based products. With a head office in Perth, we also have existing operations in Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia, Sierra Leone and the USA.

About the Position

This position has become available due to an internal transfer.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Australia, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be primarily accountable for:

• Protecting and representing Iluka’s interests by being the ultimate decision making authority for the energy, electrical, instrumentation and process control disciplines; and
• Providing electrical engineering support and delivery of projects, enabling the regions to deliver on their game plans.

As a vital member of the Engineering Services Team, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be instrumental in developing systems and processes, as well as project managing capital projects up to $10M.

The initial focus of this position, for the next nine (9) to twelve (12) months will be on the construction and commissioning of the Cataby Project, north of Perth.

This exciting varied role has a strong project management focus and a site support component, which will enable the successful candidate to:

• Take ownership, set things up the right way and show technical leadership in electrical engineering;
• Use initiative to problem solve and generate solutions that are “fit for purpose”;  
• Provide input into electrical safety; and
• Develop professional expertise through exposure to different operational aspects, as well as taking part in company wide projects.

About You

We are seeking a professional engineer who thrives on the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy while influencing outcomes and building strong working relationships.

In addition, you will have both desire and drive, combined with natural interest, to remain attuned to the latest electrical engineering and industry developments, best practices, innovations, regulations and standards.

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
• Previous experience in a mixture of operating plants (maintenance), plant design, capital development projects and feasibility studies in a mining or manufacturing environment, with proven application of skills and knowledge.
• Experience with HV OHL design, process control systems, instrumentation, VSDs and protection coordination.
• A knowledge of managing key deliverables with Western Power and electrical power distribution would be ideal.
• Demonstrable leadership in framing problems, developing solutions, managing and implementing projects to deliver in a timely fashion. 
• Ability to apply continuous improvement and change management systems.
• Ability to lead and / or participate in small multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and technical report writing skills.
• Advanced computer literacy skills.
• A working knowledge of SAP and TRIM is highly desirable.

Location and Travel

This position is based at our corporate head office in the Perth CBD.

Some travel to operational sites is a requirement of the position. Initially the focus will be on travel to the Cataby Project, anticipated to be approximately twice a week, DIDO approximately 1.5 hours from Perth.

Candidates already living in Western Australia are preferred however candidates from other states will be considered. A relocation package will be offered to the successful candidate, if required.
