Position purpose:

 

The primary purpose of the position is to support the Principle Technical lead and Head of Infrastructure Integration, in providing guidance to MTM Projects and internal stakeholders on MTM Franchise/Infrastructure Lease commitments and Infrastructure Division maintenance requirements, from project development through to final asset acceptance, taking into account the business environment, stakeholder expectations, commercial relationships, opportunity and risk tolerance to deliver the best outcome for MTM.

 

Key responsibilities:

 
  • Advise on maintenance functional requirements and standards that apply to the work to be undertaken
  • Perform review and assessment of drawings, documents, processes, work practices, materials, suppliers, innovations, to ensure works can be delivered as efficiently and safely as possible for both construction and maintainability requirements
  • Support the delivery of works by assisting with construction work methodology and implementation of works on site to ensure Project Objectives are achieved, safely and efficiently whilst in compliance with MTM standards and maintenance requirements.
  • Seek and implement innovative methods of improving production and safety in construction, maintenance, renewal and decommissioning of assets.
  • Participate in development of Project requirements, risk assessments, Safety in Design meetings to ensure appropriate Infrastructure input is provided
  • Identify and support Management of Change, Engineering Change, type approvals, Asset Management System, and TMP documentation requirements for all new or reconfigured infrastructure assets
  • Liaise closely with Infrastructure Delivery and other MTM Divisions to ensure alignment on Project requirements and understanding of project deliverables.

 
Education, experience and skills required:

 
  • Degree or qualification applicable to area of expertise
  • Manual driver’s license
  • First Aid Level 2 – desirable
  • Train Track Safety Awareness Certificate
  • Level 3.1 or higher- desirable
  • Experience in rail maintenance and or renewals
  • Experience in both contract and self-performed rail maintenance work desirable
  • Knowledge of maintenance activity work practises, productivity levels and costs
