The opportunity

As part of a new regional strategy, KBR has established an office in Newcastle, servicing the region with project management, engineering and environmental services. An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic environmental/water resources consultant to join this office and share our growth journey.

 

The role is open to senior or principal consultants, with over ten years of relevant experience ideally with a focus on the mining sector.

 
What you will be involved with

In this role you will lead KBR’s environmental offering to mining clients in the Hunter region. You will be supported by Newcastle, Sydney and interstate technical delivery teams to provide exceptional outcomes for our clients. The role will comprise the following responsibilities:

  • Refine and implement the Hunter region environment and water resources business strategy
  • Identify and secure environmental and water resources consulting projects in the Hunter region, with a particular focus on the mining sector
  • Support KBR’s broader engineering capability by scoping and delivering environmental inputs to multidisciplinary projects
  • Collaborate with other environment and water resources teams, especially in Sydney and Brisbane
  • Formulate and implement strategic relationships with organisations that will assist KBR in expanding the environment and water resources business.
  • Provide technical oversight, technical guidance, and technical inputs to projects to ensure that we meet or exceed the required project outcomes
  • Identify, secure and deliver environmental and water resources projects across a range of technical areas including:
    • Mine water management
    • Flooding, drainage and diversions
    • Landform design, rehabilitation and closure planning
    • Soil and water management
    • Environmental approvals
    • Environmental and compliance monitoring
 
Prerequisites

This is a senior appointment and as such we are seeking a skilled individual who has developed industry networks in the Hunter region.

  • Previous consulting experience and a well-established client and industry network in the Hunter region, ideally with a focus on the mining sector;
  • Demonstrated experience as a Seller-Doer
  • Demonstrated delivery of environmental and water resources projects to the mining sector
  • Experience in the successful management and delivery of projects, with time and project management skills;
  • Preparation of bid budgets, writing proposals and preparation of marketing materials;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing high level technical reports, conference papers and presentation material
  • Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in environmental science, environmental engineering, water resource management or other relevant discipline;
  • Must be an Australian Citizen;
  • Maintain and provide evidence of a current Driver’s Licence.
