We currently have a significant opportunity for a proactive, outcomes focused Senior Project/ Design Manager to join our Urban Development group in Melbourne. This project-focused role is responsible for the delivery of the design and design management required to meet commercial outcomes in accordance with technical, regulatory and client requirements.

The key aspects of the role are:

• Design and project management of civil infrastructure projects, from feasibility through to construction
• Lead multi-disciplinary project design team/s with responsibility for design delivery requirements including technical outcomes, budgets and timeliness
• Communicating design ideas, developing design philosophy and clearly presenting these to clients and developing long term business relationships with key clients
• Manage the change process during the delivery of complex multi-disciplinary design and construction projects
• Understand client needs and expectations and incorporate these into the design decisions and outcomes of the project
• Ensure project technical risks are identified and managed
• Financial management including forecasting & managing resource requirements

We are looking for people with the following attributes:

• Significant experience working as a design manager or package lead responsible for the delivery of design and construction for projects
• Good working knowledge of civil engineering (earthworks, roads, drainage, sewer and water design) as well as utility coordination and approvals facilitation. A background in civil infrastructure design, with a current working knowledge of 12D would be of value
• Detailed understanding of BIM processes and workflows and 3D design tools (advantageous)
• An understanding of what it takes to deliver, appreciate commercial imperatives and can see “the big picture”
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both internal design teams and external clients
• Ability to manage expectations around technical decisions and outcomes for both clients & contractors
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary environment

In addition to the above key criteria, demonstrated experience delivering medium to large facility development will be an advantage and involvement in Business Case development will be highly regarded.
