About Us
Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is a major national organisation with an infrastructure footprint consisting of 8,500 kilometres of track. ARTC is responsible for managing infrastructure maintenance, capital upgrades and the movement of trains on interstate railway track across Australia, including the Hunter Valley Coal Rail Network.

The position
ARTC are seeking applications for the position of Asset Planning Engineer - Civil, from an appropriately experienced and motivated individual looking to fill a key role within the Asset Planning team. This role is instrumental in providing technical services and support in the development of the asset management strategies for various track and civil activities to inform long term asset management plans.

Your primary objective will be to provide input and advice to the Asset Planning Manager and the wider engineering team with an emphasis on life cycle cost, sustainability and reliability of civil assets to ensure ARTC achieves its network performance objectives. This will involve conducting detailed analysis of data from asset management systems to prepare the 10 year plan for Major Periodic Maintenance and Capital investment relating to civil assets.

A key indicator for your success in the role will be your willingness and effectiveness in engaging and building relationships within the planning team and liaising with the development, delivery and maintenance teams.

While relevant tertiary qualifications are essential you are an active and engaged team member with highly developed communication skills. Your career will be exposed to the interpretation and reporting of asset performance data, strategic asset planning and the preparation of capital project business cases.  You will clearly demonstrate strength in project process and change management skills, including a demonstrable logical and analytical approach to operational planning and problem solving. Your career will be supported by extensive experience across diverse operational and asset environments. Of course a total commitment to safety is essential.

ARTC embraces a diverse workforce to ensure a supportive, flexible and fair workplace in which differences between employees are respected and viewed as organisational assets. We recognise that a talented and diverse workforce is fundamental to building a commercially strong and customer-focused organisation that will give rail a competitive advantage. We are committed to hiring the best person for the job, so if this sounds like you, you are encouraged to apply.

Appointment is subject to ARTC's medical fitness standards relative to the position.  ARTC is a drug and alcohol free working environment.
