We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Advanced NDT Technical Specialist to join our Technology Centre team, providing a focal point for advanced NDT applications for both internal and external stakeholders and supporting Applus+’s role as an industry leader in advanced inspection.

 

Working as part of a small but busy multi-disciplined team of NDT specialists and engineers, this newly created role will take a collaborative and consultative approach to researching, developing, validating and proposing bespoke solutions to testing and inspection issues and needs, both for our clients across Australia and internal stakeholders throughout the international business, as well as providing specialist advice and support around procedure development, review, troubleshooting and queries.

 

This role would be suited to applicants with qualifications and strong field experience in advanced NDT methods who are interested in taking the next step in their career. This full time, permanent position will be based at our Australian head office and Bibra Lake, and will report to the Technology Centre Manager.

 

Principal Duties:

 

  • Support operational teams to develop, improve and implement applications and grow opportunities with local clients,
  • Provide technical support to the Commercial Sales team in market development and commercial processes,
  • Provide direct support in the implementation and introduction of existing advanced NDT solutions for both new and existing clients,
  • Deliver demonstrations to managers, technicians and clients, promoting advanced NDT solutions and techniques,
  • Deliver presentations to clients, in conjunction with NDT Operations and Commercial Sales teams, to promote new and existing NDT techniques,
  • Provide training to technicians on the execution of advanced NDT techniques,
  • Carry out validations,
  • Provide field support to technicians performing advanced NDT techniques,
  • Assist in calibration of advanced NDT inspection equipment,
  • Liaise with NDT suppliers and colleagues in worldwide application centres to maintain up to date knowledge of industry developments,
  • Work in conjunction with the central Application Centre, based in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands, to roll out initiatives across the business unit, 
  • Assisting the Application & Technology Centre Manager - ASPA as required.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have:

 

  • Qualifications and experience in advanced NDT methods including Wavemaker, ACFM, EC and/or tube inspection, with 5+ years’ field experience post-qualification,
  • Qualifications and experience in Phased Array and Time of Flight Diffraction also highly regarded,
  • Experience writing technical procedures in a service industry, preferably oil and gas, engineering or similar,
  • Experience with the qualification and validation of procedures,
  • Physics and Mathematics orientation preferred,
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,
  • Professional manner, attitude and presentation.
