The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer to join the Manufacturing Department at our Wacol branch. Reporting to the Senior Production Engineer, the purpose of the role is to develop Quality Improvement & Process Management Programs to measure, monitor and improve Quality and Assembly Processes within the PDI Assembly group. Key responsibilities will include:

• Setting control and spending of capital Budgets in line with KMSA policy and direction.
  
• Planning and implementation of improvement projects from concept stage to completion and handover to production staff.
  
• Introduction and managing of Quality processes and the co-ordination and monitoring of the effectiveness of those improvements.
  
• Planning and implementation of cost cutting exercise for PDI product, considering BOMs, better tooling or processes and Std time reductions
  
• Planning and implementation of safer processes and Equipment to keep Komatsu as a compliant safe employer.
  
• Introduction and monitoring of a successful Std time and Lead-time reduction program to allow PDI production be competitive with our competitors.
  
• Run Parts and Service news plus Technical changes system in KMSA.
  
• Define process flow for components with regards to safety, quality & equipment times.
  
• Become Technical experts in PDI Products by studying process and technical data.
  

The knowledge, skills and abilities we're looking for

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Trade qualified with substantial post-trade qualifications
  
• Experience working in production engineering within a manufacturing, heavy vehicle or mining environment.
  
• Passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  
• Ability to work and deliver multiple tasks in adverse conditions and under ambitious deadlines.
  
• Proficient in the use of quality tools and techniques.
  
• Ability to lead and influence team members from cross functional teams.
  
• Intrinsically motivated with ability to find and use resources to improve current processes.
  
• Experience and/or knowledge of production control systems.
  
• Proficient in Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word and Excel) and excellent Data Management and analysis
  
• Strong written and oral communication skills for both daily communication and staff training.
