Your Next Career Opportunity

Our client who is a respected and iconic market leader, specialising in high-quality recycling and packaging solutions is now on the hunt for a self-motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their team at one of their leading plants in Brisbane. Reporting to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager, some of your key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Execution of mechanical maintenance activities across the plant
  • Support the work backlog management, shutdown planning and scheduling, mechanical equipment spares and repair management, and breakdown technical assistance
  • Ensure plant and equipment is maintained to OEM standards for quality and precision
  • Liaise with production personnel on a daily basis for the safe and efficient maintenance of the mill and all associated equipment
  • Assist in minimising unplanned mechanical downtime of machines and equipment
  • Assist in managing the mechanical repair workshops
  • Maximize OEE through optimising equipment reliability
  • Reliability centred maintenance analysis and implement cost-effective improvements
  • Optimise repair and maintenance to equipment within budget constraints maximising lifecycle costs
The Successful Candidate

Given the technical aspects of this role, you will have hands-on, practical experience in a mechanical engineering discipline and be flexible and adaptable. You will be solutions focused with the ability to supervise engineering and technical staff. Other key factors that will see you succeed in this role:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
  • Experience within a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Paper industry experience – Highly Desired
  • Superior communication, coupled with strong analytical skills
  • Background in Business Improvement (e.g. Lean Manufacturing, Sig Sixma)
  • Experience with root cause analysis techniques and FRACAS
  • Experience in capital and budget development, management and reporting
  • Ability to participate in a shared 24/7 call-out schedule
