Australian Conveyor Engineering (ACE), part of Fenner Dunlop Australia, offers an extensive portfolio of complete solutions for the design, manufacture and installation of high capacity conveyor systems. Specialising in providing engineered conveyor solutions for surface and underground mining clients who demand reliability and performance, we can take a small idea and make it a big reality!
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to join our team located at our Mackay branch, in our Engineering Projects Team. You will be primarily responsible for the detailed engineering design of components and sub-systems of belt conveyor equipment. Critical to this is meeting deadlines, strategic objectives and building relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for design modelling, engineering calculations, identification and implementation of product developments
- Communicate with Draftsmen to ensure that detail design intent is achieved and documented
- Upgrade 3D designs and manage material selection and BOM’s
- 3D Designs in Autodesk Inventor
- Liaise with Project Managers and when required, clients on behalf of the Engineering Manager on any technical matters
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs and optimize equipment designs
- Responsible for coordination with the drafting office on the production of fabrication and installation drawings
- Undertake FEA on equipment and components
To be successful in this role you will:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in designing Conveyor Belt Equipment with specific application to Australian coal mining industry
- Must have demonstrated underground experience
- Bachelor Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Mining Equipment Standards
- Intermediate level 3D design skills – Autodesk Inventor
- Extensive exposure to FEA – specifically Autodesk Inventor and Strand7
- Proven knowledge and understanding of FEMA
- Advanced analytical skills – engineering calculations and/or manual calculations
- Exceptional time management skills to complete work to agreed deadlines
