ANZ Terminals is Australia's largest independent chemical storage company with terminals across three states and New Zealand. We deliver chemical storage solutions for both hazardous and non-hazardous products to a wide array of businesses and primary industries, for both import and export.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Port Botany site.

Working as part of a small team and reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will use your engineering expertise to assist in screening, evaluating and developing potential capital projects for our Terminals based in Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Developing scopes for both brownfield and greenfield projects
• Assessing modifications for new business applications and opportunities
• Evaluating proposals and engaging with Operations/Maintenance, Engineering and HSE to ensure business objectives are clearly understood
• Providing design challenge and validating projects
• Developing and reviewing project specifications, milestones, timelines
• Developing cost estimates, tracking and managing spend against approved budgets
• Supporting the Senior Project Manager with capital budgets, tenders and contracts
• Overseeing site contractors work to ensure it is completed correctly, safely and according to the required standards
• Undertaking all design and construction activities to agreed standards
• Obtaining regulatory approvals within specified timeframes

To be considered for the position, candidates will possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, suitable for admission to Member - Engineers Australia
• Significant engineering experience in a project environment.
• A strong knowledge of hazardous area plant design and its application in automated industrial environment
• A working knowledge of Bulk Storage and Distribution Facilities including Tanks, Pumps, Pipelines and Loading Gantries
• Well developed problem-solving skills and ability to apply critical thinking to issues and solutions
• The ability to work independently as well in a team environment
• High levels of initiative and motivation
• Excellent communication skills and ability to develop effective relationships with various stakeholders
• Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise multiple projects and work activities.
