About the role
 
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will assist the projects team to plan and deliver the project scope across the rail corridor. We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer with construction and contract management experience. 

As the Project Engineer you will plan and deliver a program of maintenance and improvement projects to ARTC standards, within timeframes and budgets.  A large component of the role is managing contractor performance and delivery of large projects. It also includes liaising with project stakeholders; and contributing to the development of detailed project delivery plans, incident investigations and project reporting. Specific projects include full ballast cleaning, shoulder ballast cleaning, drainage and ballast undercutting activities within the Hunter Valley network. You will work with a team of professionals delivering a $20million+ annual program of work. This is a role for a great communicator who likes working in a dynamic environment where your efforts are recognised, appreciated and enhanced by working within an established projects team.
  
Safety, environment and other legislative obligations will be front of mind when delivering projects. You will collaborate with contractor and internal teams across the corridor to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with plans. You will also assist with site based contractor supervision and evaluating contractor performance.
 
About you
  • Degree in civil engineering or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering maintenance, construction or project management of track, civil, structures or signalling – with strengths regarding the preferred specific role.
  • Knowledge of work health and safety principles and experience delivering work aligned with these principles.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • We are looking for someone with a “can do” attitude who leads by example and embraces the ARTC values and safety culture.
  • Rail experience is not mandatory for these positions, however it will be considered advantageous for this position.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen.
  • Driver’s Licence – Class C
