Teekay Shipping Australia (Teekay) are contracted to provide operational crewing and ship management services for the MATV or MV Sycamore.

In support of Defence training requirements, Teekay manage and crew the purpose-built, Multi-role Aviation Training Vessel (MATV) and provide a wide range of at-sea training and support services including operating support services, engineering and maintenance services, HSSE and quality mmanagement.

To support this project, Teekay is looking to recruit an additional Project Engineer to support ongoing operational and engineering related service requirements.

As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for undertaking engineering based projects, business improvements activities, supporting the development of operational documentation and quality management & operational support tasks. You will report to the Project or Vessel Manager and act as support for them by liaising with various stakeholders internally and externally as various projects progress.

The successful applicant will be responsible for,

• Acting as the project lead on small to medium projects or multi-discipline tasks.
• Performing and coordinating engineering work with minimal supervision.
• Undertake basic project management activities in support of commercial and contract related tasks.
• Providing technical input into operational process including management, process, design, contracts and procurement.
• Prepare technical reports, investigations and calculation in support of engineering changes.
• Develop a working understanding of the Teekay Quality Management System and operational processes/procedures.
• Ensure practices adopted reflect a commitment to the highest standard in HSEQ & QA.
• Monitor project budgets on a regular basis. 
• Encourage and lead the innovation and procedure development. development and reporting of metrics and KPIs
• Prepare briefing material and present briefings to provide management, customers and vendors recommendations/suggestions that address project and operational issues.

We are looking for someone with;

• A Tertiary Qualification in Engineering (Mechanical/ Electrical/Marine/Aerospace)
• Experience in managing or working within multi-disciplined project teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships between team members and clients
• High-level negotiation and influencing skills
• Self-motivated, with a high level of initiative, able to work independently

In addition, the following will be highly regarded;

• Formal project management qualification
• Understanding of engineering and design implications in ship design, construction and operations within a commercial or defence environment.
• Professional chartered status (in either Engineering or Project Management)
• Detailed knowledge of engineering, systems and/or process design theory
• Knowledge of business development and project scoping activities
• Knowledge and understanding of OH&S standards and codes.
• 5 years’ experience working within manufacturing, heavy industry, marine and/or a defence environment.
• Operational experience (production/maintenance/engineering) ideally within large-scale project or operation.

Applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and have a current NV1 Security Clearance or be eligible/willing to obtain this. Domestic or overseas travel from time to time may be required from time to time to support project activities.
