About the opportunity
Reporting to the Project Manager, Major Projects, we have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Pipeline Project Engineer to join us. The successful candidate will be joining Jemena on an 18 month fixed term contract based in our Award Winning Melbourne CBD office.
The Project is to Design and Construct delivery of a Compressor Station (Screw and Reciprocating Compressor Trains) taking Coal Seam Gas from gathering systems and export into the Pipeline network at Gas Transmission pressure.
The key responsibilities of this role will include assisting in the development and review of design and engineering documents as well as, providing engineering and construction management support on the project. The role requires the application of engineering principles and practices to ensure that the project is designed, constructed and commissioned with a strong focus on schedule and budget constraints.
Other key responsibilities for the role include:
- Provide assistance with the preparation of Detailed Design documentation, in particular aid in the facilitation of package integration into the overall Design package and coordinating information between design and package vendors.
- Preparation of scope of works for construction contracts, engineering consultancies and equipment supply,
- Monitor, direct and control activities of construction contractors, engineering consultants and suppliers,
- Preparation and assessment of Request for Tenders / Quotations,
- Technical review of contracts, consultant and supplier deliverables,
- Preparation of project management documentation,
- Provide engineering support for onsite works,
- Provide support and oversight to construction contractor Quality records and build-up of documentation throughout the construction period,
- Preparation of procedures and policies,
- Plant and equipment inspections and expediting,
- Assist in project planning, issues resolution and risk management,
- Assist in the adaption of new tools, methods and processes for best practice project delivery,
- Assist in the implementation of safety, environment and cultural heritage obligations.
What we’re looking for
Tertiary qualified with an Engineering degree, the successful candidate will also have good knowledge of gas transmission facilities design theories, practices and procedures.
Other qualifications, skills and experience required include:
- Membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia,
- Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills,
- Demonstrated ability in project management skills including project definition, project scope, project administration, reporting and financial control,
- Understanding of financial management, expenditure approval and tendering processes,
- Strong negotiation, consultation and influencing skills,
- High level of personal integrity, ethical standards and interpersonal skills,
- Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills,
- Understanding of quality and risk management principles,
- Computer literacy skills sufficient to operate common word processing, spreadsheet and customer information system,
- Ability to make decisions, accept responsibility, autonomy and accountability,
- Current Driver’s Licence is a prerequisite for this position.
