About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Works Team, who work with, and on behalf of, the community to prepare plans and strategies that deliver on Council’s vision of being a healthy, safe, vibrant, prosperous and sustainable community.

The team is working on some exciting projects, including the Bannockburn pedestrian & traffic strategy, Inverleigh flood study, rezoning application, a number of small town structure plans, and is also working with developers and stakeholders to promote and support sustainable community development.

Day-to-day, you will:

• Co-ordinate engineering input into planning matters associated with land development and subdivision applications;
• Provide technical expertise based on sound engineering and planning policy;
• Manage the compliance of engineering plans;
• Assist with the preparation of tender specifications and funding submissions;
• Coordinate Council’s line marking and signage programs;
• Supervise the duties of the Technical Officer providing guidance and direction where required;

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will be a switched on Development Engineer looking for their next challenge. You will enjoy working in a collaborative team and be comfortable liaising with members of the community on a range of matters.

We are also looking for someone who has:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications;
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role;
• Experience with general engineering, road construction, maintenance, design and traffic engineering;
• Quality Assurance practices;
• Contract administration, contract supervision, competitive tendering;
• Previous supervision of direct labour works operations;
• Experience managing projects other than roads and bridge projects;
• Ideally, you will be someone who brings diverse life experience and a genuine passion for what you do.
