The Chief Engineer leads the Engineering and Maintenance Department at The Children?s Hospital at Westmead (CHW). In this function the Chief Engineer is responsible for the operationalisation, enhancement and management of standardised engineering and maintenance processes across CHW and proposal efforts.
Acting as a technical consultant, apply fundamental engineering principles, procedures and techniques to perform and oversee facility maintenance and capital or minor works projects across multiple programs and disciplines.
The ideal candidate will have a history of proven business acumen coupled with technical and analytical expertise across end to end management of a major facility or facilities where complex critical infrastructure must be available in a 24/7 environment.
Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative way with a range of internal and external stakeholders as well as a positive can-do attitude will be well regarded.
Selection Criteria:
- Extensive experience in leading a large multidisciplinary technical / engineering team and developing a strong service based culture including developing and implementing maintenance plans, monitoring performance and meeting goals.
- Tertiary Qualifications specifically relating to building or building services or significant relevant experience demonstrating fundamental knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing management of major facilities.
- Demonstrated successful experience in the end to end management of a major facility or facilities where complex critical infrastructure must be available on 24/7 basis
- Extensive experience in Engineering field, knowledge of plant performance and maintenance strategies with particular emphasis on the development of Preventative Maintenance programs and routine and emergency works planning to meet tight deadlines.
- High level understanding and experience with Building Management Systems BMS and their use in a building services environment as well as good competency with MS Office suite.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Financial /Budget management.
- Demonstrated experience in the management and operation of project planning and delivery of complex engineering systems that relate to building services.
- Ability to track record of implementing changes in a turnaround engineering or facilities management environment in regards to service provision.
