An opportunity has arisen at a well-established fabrication & construction company based in Carole Park, Brisbane for a General Manager. This is a newly created position reporting directly to the owner.
The successful applicant will join a growing business and be responsible for directing, coordinating and controlling all aspects of the business whilst providing a high standard of customer service. The General Manager will be expected to think creatively, communicate clearly and build strong relationships with customers and staff.
The applicant must have the following skillset and experience:
- More than 5 years experience in a high-level management role and preferably with an engineering background
- Personal commitment towards safety in the workplace
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers.
- Empowering leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Exemplary attention to detail
- Strong commercial and cost forecasting knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and other relevant program applications
- Experience in HR systems and managing and evaluating employees
- Strong knowledge within Quality management systems and maintaining a smooth approach
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Providing input and ideas for capacity growth and profitability improvements
- Managing, responding proactively and navigating complex / changing environments
- Ensuring all required reporting and scheduling is accurate, up-to-date and relevant
- Mentoring staff and employees to meet their career goals
- Managing the tendering, design and drafting operations of the business and providing support where applicable
- Assisting the owner with business growth and business planning
- Ensuring the development of a strategic plan for each project that reflects safety, time efficiency, quality and profitability
- Developing and managing budgets for the operations and ensuring appropriate staffing requirements are met
- Ensuring that the operations are equipped with the required equipment and that this equipment is maintained in accordance with the service program
- Overall business management in conjunction with the owner
