ATP Consulting Engineers is looking for an electrical engineer with minimum 2 years’ experience in telemetry and control systems. This is a new position within the Gold Coast office of a small, but rapidly growing, noise and vibration specialist consultancy.  In this role you will be reporting to the principal acoustical engineer and will be developing power supply and telemetry solutions for remote access and automatic switching of monitoring equipment; remote data download; transfer and storage of data in SCADA.  This position provides support services to a team of engineers that specialise in noise, vibration, dust and light monitoring and assessment. 

Salary: $68,000 plus supper, company car, mobile phone and paid professional membership fees.

Position Type: Full time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, planning, installation commissioning and integration of telemetry and control systems for powering, remote access and automatic switching of monitoring equipment; remote data download; and storage of data in SCADA.
  • Travel to remote sites to set-up monitoring equipment and to organise suitable power supply either from mains electricity or from alternative sources of energy for unobstructed continuous operation of multiple noise, vibration, dust and light monitoring loggers.
  • Customer liaison and design of the power supply system for the noise, vibration, dust and light monitoring programme as per client requirements.
  • Liaison with suppliers of PLC technology to ensure appropriate and cost effective telemetry and control equipment is purchased.
  • Management of project execution to time and budget constraints.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Hands on experience with Cybrotech CyBro-2\3 PLC controllers is essential.
  • Hands on experience with telemetry and control systems as used for conversion of energy flow from mains electricity to batteries and use of solar panels for powering of monitoring equipment and sensors.
  • Hands on experience with setting VPN (Virtual Private) networks and FTP (File transfer Protocol) clients.
  • Ability to effectively communicate project requirements as they relate to power supply for various monitoring equipment in areas with access to mains electricity as well as in remote areas with no mains power supply.
  • Knowledge and experience in interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with clients to resolve issues and manage expectations.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary tem environment.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (Telemetry and Control Systems)
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a consulting engineering environment.
