Coogee is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Brisbane Engineering and Maintenance team. This exciting role will provide the right candidate the opportunity to apply their skills set in a specialised environment as we continue to improve, develop and grow the Company’s Queensland Chlor-Alkali operations.

Based at our Lytton Chlor-Alkali facility and with responsibility for undertaking mechanical engineering functions on site and ensuring that mechanical assets are operated, maintained, renewed and expanded to meet ever evolving business needs. The right candidate will have the opportunity to be part of supporting the continued success of the Chlor-Alkali business now and in to the future.

Coogee is an innovative and highly successful private company undertaking the supply of industrial and mineral processing chemicals to the Australian and International markets. Our expansive Queensland operations provide numerous products and services, including chemical manufacturing, transport and storage tank terminals, to a variety of clients across the region.

The core responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer role are:

  • leading asset integrity programs and management of such assets through their lifecycle
  • management of preventative maintenance strategies across the business
  • providing technical and maintenance support to technicians within the maintenance team
  • development and maintenance of mechanical specifications on site
  • supporting and implementing engineering design, construction and operational readiness of new equipment on site

We are looking for a highly motivated technical professional who:

  • holds a tertiary degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • has a current RPEQ certification or is well on the way to obtaining such
  • has a minimum five years’ experience in a similar role or industry
  • has a thorough understanding of process safety and the ability to steward it on site
  • has a thorough understanding of risk-based inspection techniques
  • project management skills and experience with a variety of piping systems will be highly regarded

Major Hazard Facility and Petrol or Chemical industry experience would be highly desirable but is not essential
