ALS Industrial's Power Services has an immediate career opportunity for a suitably experienced Plant Inspector. In this position the successful candidate will be part of the NSW Cameron Park Power Services team to perform inspections of power station pressure equipment and associated plant items as part of their asset condition management. Inspection may be required for commissioning, during service, breakdown, or during planned overhaul and maintenance shutdowns, locally and interstate.
 
Key duties of this position are:
  • Perform inspection and certification of pressure equipment as per AS/NZS 3788:2006.
  • Perform internal and external inspections of boilers, pressure vessels and piping.
  • Client liaison to schedule periodic inspections and discuss findings and inspection actions.
  • Compile technical reports with appropriate recommended actions for integrity management.
  • Participate in visual and tactile surveys with a team of inspectors during power station outages.
  • In-service inspection of boiler to turbine critical steam mains and other pipework systems.
  • In-service inspection of large power boilers and ancillary plant such as fans, airheaters, air and gas ducts, mills and other plant items.
  • Coordinate and supervise activity of small teams to complete inspection and test workscopes.
The position will report to the Plant Inspection & Integrity Manager and liase with other engineers and key staff.
 
About you
Ideally the successful candidate will have:
  • A strong focus and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to offer valuable input to a team environment.
  • AICIP or API certification is preferred, however applicants who may be progressing towards industry inspection certification will also be considered.
  • Thermal power plant knowledge and experience (inclusive of boiler, turbine and piping systems).
  • Proficiency in Australian inspection standards.
  • Understanding of non-destructive testing techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conversant with MS Word and MS Excel
  • Gas Power Plant and HRSG knowledge and experience an advantage.
