The Bloomfield Group is Australian owned and operated and has interests in mining and engineering in the Hunter Valley, NSW.  In business for more than 80 years, Bloomfield employs over 500 people and operates two open-cut coal mines: Bloomfield Mine at East Maitland and Rix's Creek Mine, 5klms northwest of Singleton, NSW. 

Coking and thermal coal from the mining operations is railed to Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) and then exported throughout Asia.  Bloomfield is a founding member and current shareholder of PWCS.  The company's engineering business's include Four Mile Engineering at East Maitland and Kings Engineering in Rutherford and Lithgow.  The group also has equity positions in companies specializing in renewable energies, recycling and biofuel production.

The Bloomfield Group is seeking to appoint a Process Engineer to join our Asset Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible to optimise the Coal processing within The Bloomfield Group Coal Handling Preparation Plant’s (CHPP) through process auditing and system improvements.

Key responsibilities:

• Responsibility for the process optimisation of The Bloomfield Group CHPP’s
• Responsibility for the commissioning and successful transition of RCS CHPP to 100% tailings de-watering by solid bowl centrifuges
• In consultation with the Maintenance team optimise the operations to deliver cost effective processing and handling
• Responsibility to ensure projects are coordinated and properly resourced to meet the project(s) goals
• Prepare project scopes, estimates, budget, schedules and execution plans
• Assist with project quality assurance and control, commissioning systems and documentation to support the project
• Seek resolution on technical problems and/or project issues as required to ensure satisfactory completion
• Monitor industry and Company operational trends and suggest improvement opportunities
• Manage the documentation and storage of information relating to projects
• Mentor plant operational personal in plant processes & efficient operation
• Provide technical guidance and support to other departments and employees within the Bloomfield Group by actively exchanging technical information and learnings within the organisation
• Provide assistance  & expertise in solving plant process problems
• Any other reasonable duties as required including staff relief coverage of RCS, RCN and Bloomfield CHPP’s staff

Essential Criteria:

• Tertiary qualification in Process Engineering Discipline (and /or Chemical Engineering)
• Minimum of 5 years’ post graduate experience in Process Engineering roles
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Coal Handling Preparation Plants
• Excellent technical knowledge and skills, including a broad understanding of operational requirements and engineering standards of practice
• Strong track record of successfully completing projects in mining, or similar industry
• Experience in setting and working to budget expectations, and working on capital projects up to $10M
• Strong knowledge of Safety and Environment Regulations
• Effective problem solving and decision making skills
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and a “team-oriented” approach to the achievement of projects
• Strong technical writing abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Results driven with strong organisational and analytical skills
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and other relevant computer software
