About the Role

RDA is presently seeking a Software Engineer (Simulation) for the implementation of the Simulation Software according to predefined framework conditions. This role assumes operational management for its development and is also responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and overseeing the supplier's development and Production process as well as system integration, with regard to the assigned Simulation SW unit.

This role is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Proactively involved with determining the System Level architecture of the simulation systems;
  • Locate, interpret, and ensure that relevant product design standards are implemented;
  • Liaising with key stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, to elicit requirements then develop designs through to manufacturable product specifications;
  • Work with simulation system providers to achieve an effective integrated solution;
  • Design, implement, integrate and test of software components and concepts for a virtual simulation system;
  • Integration of the developed in-house or third-party software components to the higher-order system;
  • Effort estimation and cooperation with a team of developers;
  • Support and guidance of developers creating components to interact with the core system;
  • Development of engineering documentation and configuration management of system infrastructure;
  • Work with simulation and training services teams to assist with the successful roll out all Simulation and Training systems in ensure that products are accepted into operational service; and,
  • Assist with business development in simulation and training related activities.

As the successful applicant you will have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (mechatronics/ software engineering) or equivalent discipline;
  • Ability to adopt new Application Programming Interfaces and frameworks;
  • Strong knowledge of C++ (11/14);
  • Profound understanding of design patterns and best practices (both architectural and on implementation level);
  • Expertise in software develop processes (including Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Test-Driven Development);
  • Experience with cmake based build environments (STL and Boost);
  • Experience working with version control systems (git);
  • Basic understanding of UML diagrams; and,
  • Experience in Requirements Elicitation.

 

NB. The successful candidate must be willing to relocate to Bremen, Germany (approx. up to 2 years) initially, and then relocate to either Brisbane or Adelaide.
