About the position

An opportunity now exists for a Field Engineer to join JB Hi-Fi Solutions’ Professional Services division in a full time capacity. This role is primarily responsible for onsite service and support needs for JB Hi-Fi’s customers, in relation to all technology including: workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor specific hardware and software.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work through a daily on-site visitation schedule that has been established through the dispatch process
  • Deliver exceptional technical support services to JB Hi-Fi Solutions clients
  • Technical Support relating to Microsoft’s core business applications and operating systems
  • Technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
  • Maintain a high level of consistent and accurate activity reporting for contracted support clients
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation of customer's infrastructure
  • Identify areas for improvement within customer environment
  • Escalate service requests that require additional support
  • Remote access solution implementation and support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
  • System documentation to include system reviews and recommendations
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes, or agreed outages
  • Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities

About you

Our ideal candidate would possess a combination of the below experience and skills:

  • 3+ years of technical field services or similar technical experience
  • Degree/Certificate IV preferably in computer science or a related field
  • ITIL v3 Foundation Certificate
  • Professional IT Certifications, such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, Citrix CCEA or CCIA, Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements and specifications into easily understood business concepts
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast moving environment
