The Company
Our client is a state government department and due to busy nature of the industry are looking to add a new team of Civil Engineers. There are numerous roles across Sydney initially working from their CBD based office but then working from site offices. These are immediate positions working client side, long-term contracts pre-dominantly within rail maintenance.
The Role
The Civil Engineer is responsible for:
• Providing a high level of engineering & technical advice and support to the Senior Manager Civil Engineering
and network Base team, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the rail network
• Evaluating asset condition reports and inspection data to ensure all major risks identified are managed in a
timely manner and have effective controls in place for the safe operation of rail traffic
• Ensuring the technical integrity of assets in a region; compliance to engineering standards, identification and
control of key risks, incident investigation and track safety assurance.
Requirements for the position:
1. Tertiary qualification (Degree) in Civil Engineering or related discipline or equivalent substantial experience
2. Experience in Rail Track asset management, maintenance, construction and commissioning works in an
operational environment is highly desired.
3. Demonstrated research, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to apply them in a multidisciplinary
Environment.
4. Be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding of maintenance engineering principles and their application to
maintenance and operations, including an understanding of relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice.
5. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, influencing
skills and able to use systems including maintenance management systems, work processing and spreadsheet
programs, e-mail and communications 6. Hold a current NSW Class C driver’s license and be comfortable driving
a 4WD/UTE type of vehicle.
