The Manager: Engineering is a trained professional who is responsible for supervising a diverse group of Aeronautical Engineers, Draftsmen, Technical Publications Officers, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and Support staff to ensure on-time and in-budget completion of Aircraft Improvement projects and the ongoing industrialisation of such improvements and providing day to day support to the Production and Customer Service departments.

Project Management is an essential element of the role and the Manager: Engineering must ensure project planning, creating time lines, organizing regular meetings, working with stakeholders, and keeping the team on track.

Furthermore, The Manager: Engineering will have a very strong experience and knowledge base with a proven track record of leading certification projects in line with national and foreign airworthiness regulations. As such the position requires a current CASA 21M authorisation.

The position also requires the incumbent to maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with CASA  in order to establish realistic project certification requirements and stay fully acquainted with proposed and actual changes to all regulations affecting the approval of design organizations, personnel, aircraft design and operations that affect GippsAero products and product development.

You will need:

Engineers Australia recognised tertiary qualification.

Substantiated employment history involving aircraft development, modification, continued airworthiness and certification projects. 

Significant and demonstrable  (approximately 10 years) professional experience in the Aerospace engineering industry

Familiarity in providing engineering support for aircraft development, operations and maintenance environments.

CASA 21M authorisation delegation in a wide range of specialities with preferred instruments/specialisations in Mech/Structures.

Demonstrated experience in managing technical teams and their deliveries on programs.

GippsAero Pty Ltd is a Mahindra Aerospace Company based in regional Victoria based at the Latrobe Regional Airport premises. These facilities are unique to Australia for having both design and manufacturing capabilities, and maintain Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority approvals for these functions.

GippsAero provides a unique ‘Airvan’ Product globally to a diverse market of both commercial and private consumers. The site based in Morwell (Victoria, Australia) is predominantly comprised of field/operational manufacturing and engineering staff as well as the GippsAero corporate headquarters.

This location will serve as a base to this role, however, the incumbent may be required to travel domestically or internationally at the request of Executive Management to fulfil their function. On a daily basis, this function will provide a leadership role to improve the existing processes and services, as well as development of GA products.
