About the Opportunity
As General Manager – Asset Engineering, you will drive and deliver asset management strategy for the most advanced driverless train technology in the world, and the first driverless passenger train network in Australia. You will report directly to the Metro Trains Sydney CEO, and have a chance to demonstrate comfort with high levels of responsibility and accountability.
This is an opportunity for you to stamp your mark on the largest public infrastructure project that this country has ever seen. Remuneration is competitive and you will be based at the Sydney Metro Trains Facility in Rouse Hill.
About You
As General Manager – Asset Engineering, you will extensive experience with a record of success in an asset management role at a similar level of seniority.
Your university degree or tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic and/or Mechanical/ Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent appropriate for admission to the Institute of Engineers Australia, is supported by strong experience working in a safety regulated industry and sound knowledge of relevant rail safety legislation.
You have proven your capacity to manage and support a diverse, high-performing team of technical engineers, maintenance managers, and maintenance contractors to deliver business KPI’s, service excellence and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
You will need outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide authoritative advice and build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You must be efficient and organised, capable of managing financial plans, and comfortable collecting, analysing and presenting complex data to support sound decision-making.
About the Role
As General Manager – Asset Engineering, you will be required to effectively support the CEO to plan and execute all asset engineering related activities for the Sydney Metro Northwest (SMNW) project, all the way from the operational readiness phase through to live operations in alignment with MTS’ business objectives and KPI commitments.
You will lead and manage the asset engineering team members, where you will be responsible for performance development, competency management and feedback, in order to drive a high performing culture and aid the personal and professional development of those reporting to you.
You will also oversee contractor management, budgets and resources, including establishing a productivity gain plan to ensure the project will operate sustainably with year on year improvement in results.
