Opportunity

Due to continued Growth, my Client is looking for a Mechanical Associate Director to take a key role within their Building Services Design Engineering Consultancy.

The role will be to provide Technical and Leadership guidance to Senior Management and will report to the Sydney Director.

Role Objectives
  • To take a key role in projects within specialist field, providing technical/ leadership guidance and overview
  • To provide consultancy services for projects and be able to develop solutions that fall outside of the standard codes
  • To build professional profile and reputation, at an area level within the industry and within the business
  • To establish and consolidate relationships with clients, both during and after project completion
  • To manage the delivery of specialised components of projects and establish the most effective team to achieve this
  • To deliver technically complete solutions and reports to clients that meet their expectations and is within the company budget
  • To manage technical risk mitigation, safety and value in design processes;
  • To develop and deliver integrated design programs and key performance milestones and reports at all stages
Role Responsibilities 

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Technical Leadership
  • Build effective and enduring relationships with other teams and technical disciplines in the region, other company offices and external organisations to foster co-operation and maximise cross-sell and trade-up opportunities
  • Mentor and develop the skill base of specialised technical teams
  • Use knowledge of client business and competition to provide input and competitive focus during the bid process
  • Provide technical expertise and overview to client and stakeholders and to assist clients through technical decision-making and provide alternatives options/solutions if there are changes to project parameters
  • Provide reassurance, confidence and sense of direction to both client and project team members
  • Assist the development of the region's talent through coaching and mentoring - encourage and model innovation, entrepreneurial thinking and the drive to exceed client's expectations
Operational Management
  • Use understanding of the technical challenges and client business to form the most effective team
  • Work with client and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project objectives and to set protocols for working together
  • Communicate with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project strategy, brief and client requirements.
  • Implement a high level of innovation in technical issues, problem solving and the culture of the team, leading by example
  • Manage the design team to achieve program and delivery targets
  • Communicate with the project managers and develop design program
  • Promote awareness of, and compliance with, Health and Safety regulations
Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant degree with significant consulting experience (10 years+)
  • Post graduate qualification an advantage
  • Registered or accredited professional
  • Recognised leader in an Mechanical engineering discipline and contacts in emerging industry networks at area and regional levels
  • Proven ability to influence at senior levels
  • Well developed commercial skills, with a sound knowledge of the industry
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally
  • Experience with managing and resolving interfaces with other technical disciplines
