Position

With work about to commence on the associated New Parallel Runway (NPR) infrastructure, including a unique road and underpass structure, we are currently looking for a Site Engineer – Civil Utilities who will be responsible for supporting the coordination of the construction and contract delivery of Civil Utilities works within the Delivery Stream of the Dryandra Road contract, which include:

  • Sewer, water and recycled water pipelines;
  • Trenching and conduit works;
  • Directional drilling activities;
  • Minor structures – pits, foundations and the like; and
  • Installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems including a stormwater pump station, LV, HV, communication and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

In addition to ensuring effective liaison and coordination between Civil, Structural and Utilities works, key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Providing support to the Project Engineer and Works Inspector (utilities) with regard to contract specific management and reporting as relevant to Utilities works;
  • Support in the implementation of the Contract Risk Register including establishment and monitoring of the identified risk management and mitigations measures as part of the construction of the Works;
  • Support in coordinating Works management activities relating to the delivery of Utilities work elements in accordance with the requirements of the Contract.  This includes ensuring timely and accurate processing and record keeping of Works Approvals, NORA’s, RFI’s, site works records, defects register and works close-out.
  • Support the Project Engineer to ensure Utilities works elements of the Dryandra Road Works Contract are managed within delegated responsibilities and authorities in accordance with the Contract Documents;
  • Supporting the Compliance stream in leading the technical review and input into contractors proposed design and approval, and other relevant compliance stream activities;
  • Support in developing, implementing and managing audit and reporting process on Construction Procedures, Survey Management, Traffic Management and assist in WH&S and Site based Interface Audits.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications, Civil/Mechanical Engineering;
  • 2-5 years’ experience in project management aspects of large multidisciplinary projects;
  • Experience in liaising with consultants, construction and management contractors;
  • Experience in risk management.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and experience in airfield planning and operations;
  • Exposure to drafting and engineering design;
  • Exposure to construction contracts;
  • Experience with the installation of sewer, water and recycled water pipelines;
  • Experience with electrical installations associated with road works including HV, LV, communications and control systems; and
  • Experience with mechanical installations associate with stormwater pump stations.

Knowledge & Technical Proficiency

  • Experience and knowledge of earthworks, minor concrete structures, pavements, drainage, dewatering, landscaping and fencing;
  • Knowledge of construction project elements, environmental impacts and mitigation strategies;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Contractor based Quality Management Systems;
  • Sound knowledge of relevant regulations and statutory requirements;
  • Proficiency with written contract specifications and documentation;
  • Proficiency with managing contractor’s program (i.e. tracking, reporting, issues identification);
  • Proficiency in budgeting and cost management for projects;
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction codes, traffic management, work health and safety legislation and Australian Standard contract conditions; and
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of packages.
