The Role

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Professional Civil Engineer to join our high performing and engaged civil team in Sydney working on a variety of rail projects predominantly in NSW but also assisting other states and regions.

As a rail specialist with the world's #1 ranked engineering design firm, you will be exposed to a range of projects and stakeholders providing you with an opportunity to apply your experience on major to mega rail projects. Current and recent projects include light rail, metro, passenger rail, freight and high speed rail. You will work efficiently in an autonomous environment as well as contributing as part of the wider Civil Infrastructure and AECOM team.

As the Professional Civil Engineer you will:

  • Support senior project managers and team leaders
  • Manage smaller tasks and projects
  • Support and manage risk and opportunities on all assigned projects
  • Support senior team members / project managers to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients
  • Support senior team members / project managers to develop an understand client’s business and make the connection to AECOM service offerings
  • Support budgetary control of complex projects, forecasting project expenditure and programme performance
  • Manage Subcontractors and Suppliers on the project where appropriate and ensure the relevant form of subcontract is used and complied with.

About You
To be successful in the role you will ideally have the following:

  • Engineering degree and qualifications that include rail related design elements
  • An average of 5+ years’ experience
  • Experience in delivering multi-disciplinary rail related projects
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and meeting delivery requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; report writing, development of proposals
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to develop relationships
  • Competent in systems: Project Management tools, MS office suite
  • You will be a natural integrator who has experience working collaboratively with multi-discipline teams
  • You will have a broad civil engineering background across different end markets but a particular passion for Rail
