We are looking for a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer, experience in rollingstock maintenance, ability to work autonomously and experience in compilation of Scopes of Work for equipment overhaul.
Core duties and responsibilities- Provides engineering support to the EMU railcar maintenance and cleaning contractor in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Provides technical input into the acquisition of new railcars as required, including the responsibility for preparation of the relevant mechanical aspects of new railcar specifications.
- Records and analyses performance and productivity data and takes appropriate actions for improvements.
- Maintains configuration of the rollingstock assets.
- Assists in the development and implementation of Asset Management Plans for the railcars.
- Investigates and progresses continuous improvements in railcars, depots, plant, equipment and buildings including the overseeing of modifications to equipment in order to maintain, or enhance, its performance.
- Designs and implements upgrades to the rollingstock assets mechanical systems.
- Provides specialist technical support to Railway Incident Investigations.
- Provides technical support to the Contracts Manager to ensure effective management of contractors and suppliers.
- Manages contractual relationship with Contractors or Suppliers of Railcars for mechanical engineering related matters, when required.
- Undertakes compliance audits of railcar maintenance and reports non-conformances.
- Relevant Engineering Qualifications and Experience acceptable to the Institute of Engineers Australia for Admission as a Corporate Member.
- Knowledge of Rail Safety Legislation.
- Proven experience in rollingstock maintenance.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in contract and project management.
- Provision of a current National Police Clearance certificate, dated 3 months or less from the date of application for the position.
- Possession of a current Western Australian 'C' or 'C-A' Class Drivers Licence or equivalent.
