A new opportunity to join our growing team as a Sales & Application Engineer has become available in our Sydney office based at Olympic Park.  This role will primarily have responsibility for supporting the sales of our world-class Lightnin Mixers and Plenty Mix products.  To provide this support, the successful candidate will be required to have a basic understanding of rotational equipment and the ability to develop a strong knowledge of RFQ’s, tenders, proposal preparation and customer interactions.  Relevant industry experience in mineral processing, water industry or chemical industries is desired but not a mandatory requirement.

Key responsibilities

Pre-Order

  • Read and understand customer specification in RFQ’s and tender packages.
  • Work with sales team to clarify customer’s technical requirements.
  • Analyse the requirements and find suitable solution as well as consider competitive alternatives.
  • Undertake equipment selections in accordance with the customers’ requirements
  • Create final cost summary using SPX pricing and selection tools
  • Prepare customer proposal with or for the sales team.
  • Attend clarification meetings with sales people.
  • Provide technical support for sales
  • Assist in LEAF and LOAF preparation to ensure compliance 

Post Order

  • Load technical information into internal E-sales or order handling system.
  • Prepare documents necessary for order entry.
  • Assist with document control and transmittals to ensure compliance to the specification.
  • After delivery assist with commissioning and start up when necessary.
  • Assist with warranty claims when necessary.
  • Provide feedback to management on product improvement suggestions.
  • Provide training to general sales people and distribution partners were necessary.

General

  • Work as part of the sales and proposals team dedicated to the Mixing product lines for applications, quotations and engineering support, the incumbent must have;
  • Strong technical skills, possesses a working and theoretical knowledge of fluid dynamics.
  • Commercial ability to prepare professional proposals and understand technical as well as commercial risks in contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills across company as well as to customers or third parties.
  • Sales background with the ability to make compelling sales and technical presentations to customers.
  • Strong English communications skills for technical and commercial in speech and writing.
  • Able to make things happen and able to drive changes.

Skills, Qualifications and Behaviors:

  • Education in chemical / mechanical engineering or similar.
  • 3 or more years of experience in application engineering.
  • Proven experienced in reading technical documents, RFQ’s and tenders.
  • Proven experience in the preparation and submission of quotations and tenders.
  • Track record in selling technical solutions.
  • Desire to learn and keep on learning.
  • Motivated and results orientated.
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Experience with international suppliers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate with other technical and commercial entities.
  • Strong professional presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work autonomously.
  • Excellent problem solving ability, able to identify issues and provide suggestions on solutions.
