We are currently seeking a Project Engineer - Substations for work on our Level Crossing Removal Project. This large-scale project will benefit train users, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services.

In this role, you will carry out specialist technical services for the design input & review, procurement, construction, and completion & commissioning of substation network infrastructure, to ensure the requirements of the electrical network asset management plan and projects are delivered, within budget and key performance indicators, whilst ensuring the provision of a safe and fit for purpose infrastructure.

Accountabilities:

• Assist in substation design development and interface requirements with the project/alliance partnership team.
• Compliance to MTM and Alliance Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies and systems.
• Assist with financial control of substations works within the project/alliance.
• As nominated, undertake project management tasks for IWP & AWP works and Project works, including:
• Prepare Electrical Design Services Scope of Works documentation;
• Liaise with client and user representatives and obtain design/functional approvals;
• Critically examine designs, materials and equipment requirements, and undertake site inspections during installation as required to assess quality of workmanship, staff efficiency and work methods;
• Manage design process and delivery of installation designs to Substation Supervisor and/or Foreman;
• Manage collection of As-Built site data and finalisation of design and maintenance documentation;
• Attend site meetings, defect walkthroughs, commissioning meetings and other planning meetings run by MTM Projects where required, and assist with preparation and review of Testing and Commissioning Programs where required.

To be successful in the role, your previous experience will include:

• Professional Electrical Engineer capable of being admitted as a Member of Engineers Australia at the level of at least Grad IEAust.
• HV Competent Person (Substations).
• Construction Industry “Red Card” or equivalent OHS induction qualifications.
• At least 2 years’ experience working within the Victorian Rail Industry.
• Knowledge of HV AC Distribution Systems, LV AC Systems, Traction Bonding, Earthing Systems, interfacing with SCADA Systems, relay and logic control systems.
• Demonstrable ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and designs presented in varying array of formats.
• Familiarity of the interconnected nature of the Victorian Traction System and the interaction of the parts of the interconnected, multidisciplinary Rail System.
• Familiarity with relevant Acts and Australian (and International Standards) relevant to the Victorian Power Industry, specifically, HV Traction.
• Sound understanding of Electrical Operating and HV Safety Rules in the MTM Environment
• Ability and willingness to work within a team environment.
